As the United States prepares to host a historic run of global sporting events, from the 2026 FIFA Soccer World Cup to the 2028 Olympics to the 2031 FIFA Women’s Soccer World Cup – to the 2034 Winter Olympics, sports diplomacy remains one of the most underutilized tools in our foreign policy and global engagement arsenal. Sports entrepreneur Travis Murphy will explore with you how sports can transcend politics, strengthen international relationships, and unlock commercial, cultural, and diplomatic outcomes. In a decade defined by competition on and off the field, it’s time for the U.S. to fully embrace the strategic power of sport.

Travis Murphy is the CEO of Jetr Global Sports consultancy that empowers athletes, sports leagues and organizations. Travis formerly was Head of International Government Affairs for the National Basketball Association and served as a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State. Come hear about his proposed “sports diplomacy” initiatives to help the U.S. host international sporting events and better support U.S. athletes competing abroad, while burnishing our relations with other countries.
