Have you been reading the recent headlines about the banking industry and wondering how U.S. financial policies influence our economy and markets around the world? Dennis Lockhart, former President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta, a regular commentator on CNBC, Bloomberg, and other financial news outlets, and a Distinguished Professor of Practice at Georgia Tech’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs will address these issues at our April program. Mr. Lockhart will explain how monetary policy is made and offer thoughts on the current financial policy situation and outlook. He will enlighten us on the consequences of U.S. monetary policy for the rest of the world and on how countries coordinate their financial policies. He will also tell us about how the policies that you read about might affect the Georgia economy and you. We hope you can join us for this timely expert presentation.

Dennis Lockhart’s career includes prestigious positions in the private sector, academia, and government. He is currently a distinguished professor of the practice in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech.

From 2007 to 2017, he served as the 14th President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Mr. Lockhart served on the Federal Reserve’s chief monetary policy body, the Federal Open Market Committee.

Before becoming a central banker, Mr. Lockhart was a member of the faculty of Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service where he chaired the Masters program concentrations in global commerce and finance and international business–government relations. He also was an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. He was simultaneously chairman of the Small Enterprise Assistance Funds, a sponsor of emerging markets venture capital/private equity funds.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Lockhart was the managing partner of a boutique private investment firm with activity in Africa and Latin America and president of Heller International Group, a financial firm with activities in commercial finance in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. In 2000, he chaired the Advisory Committee of the U.S. Export-Import Bank.
Mr. Lockhart began his banking career with Citicorp/Citibank (now Citigroup), working in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Iran, Latin America, and the southeast United States.

Mr. Lockhart earned a B.A. in political science and economics from Stanford University in 1968 and an M.A. in international economics and U.S. foreign policy from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in 1971.
